Best Body Wash for Dry Skin

If you’re experiencing some form of dry skin, then body wash can be a good way to help hydrate. Cheap body wash can dry your skin out, so it’s important to get something that will moisturize your skin. To do this, you’ll usually need to look at a higher quality body wash that is specifically made for dry skin.

With a good body wash, you should notice a difference within the first few times of using it. The issue is that many body washes contain surfactants, a chemical which removes the natural oils that are produce naturally by your body. This will result is even drier skin, which is why it’s important to check the ingredients of the body wash you are going to use.

Whether you have ezcema or you just experience drier skin than most, a good body wash can help your skin feel fresh again.

Tree to Tub Organic

Anyone who knows me knows how much I like Tea to Tree organic products. They’re great for your skin, and they’re fantastic choice for anyone who is experiencing dry skin.

Why do I like Tree to Tub products so much? Well, they’re vegan and you can be sure that none of their products are ever animal tested. This is very important to me, so it’s always something that I’m looking out for when I’m looking at purchasing some new grooming products. It’s hypoallergenic, so you won’t generally need to worry about being allergic to it – though you should always check the ingredients just in case.

It’s made from soapberry, like most of their products. This makes it perfect for your skin and an awesome option if you’re looking for a body wash specifically for dry skin.

Best Beard Balms and Oils

Maintaining your beard is essential. There’s really no point growing your beard out longer than a few weeks if you aren’t going to maintain it properly, because you’ll just end up looking scruffy. To help you maintain your beard, you should look at getting yourself a good quality beard balm or oil.

Whilst it might appear that all beard balms and oils are basically the same thing, you’d be sorely mistaken to think so. For starters, a beard and a balm are very different in their texture. Some people prefer to use both oil and balm, but I prefer to pick one or the other usually – sometimes interchanging them daily.

Best Hair Loss Shampoo

Hair loss shampoo has become increasingly popular recently, with more and more products arriving on the market. But how do you decide on which one is the best for you? It’s definitely not an easy task.

Whilst here at Balding Life we’re massive advocates of accepting your male pattern baldness, I understand if you want to cling on to it a little longer. Once it’s gone, it’s gone and it ain’t coming back! For this reason, you can look at using some hair loss shampoos to help slow down the hair loss process. A good hair loss shampoo will help to mitigate any hair loss you’re currently experiencing, with some even stating that they’ll help your hair grow back (though I’m not too sure about that!).

Hair loss shampoos are also a fantastic choice for women who are experiencing some form of hair loss, Whether it be genetically getting thinner from old age (it happens to the best of us!) or something more complicated, a good hair loss shampoo can make you feel a lot more confident in yourself.

Art Naturals Argan Oil

Argan Oil has become increasingly popular in recent years, especially as an ingredient in shampoo. It’s known that it’s ingredients support thick and healthy hair, so it’s not surprise it’s popularity has increased. It’s also great for your hair follicles, so if you’re suffering from some form of temporary hair loss, then this could be a good option.

Like many other hair loss shampoos, it also contains DHT blockers. What does this mean? Well, DHT is created from the testosterone in your body and is part of the development process. It’s a necessary part of development, especially for guys as it helps us develop physically. It’s also great for heart health, so don’t knock it just because it causes us some hair loss.

As hair loss shampoos go, this is a great choice if you are looking for something that will mitigate any further loss and leave your remaining hair feeling thick and luxurious.

Biotin Shampoo for Hair Growth

Much like Argan Oil has been praised for it’s ability to help with your hair loss

Pure Biology Hair Growth Shampoo

Pura D’Or Gold Label

Re:Line Thickening Shampoo

A good thickening shampoo can be great if your hair is getting slightly thinner.

Conclusion

Whilst a good hair loss shampoo isn’t a necessity, it can help thicken your remaining hair. Some will state that they actually help hair to grow back, though from all the research and people I’ve spoken to suggests this isn’t really the case for the majority. It’s better used if you’re experiencing alopecia or telogen effluvium. It won’t work for male pattern baldness.

Hair loss shampoo is great for anyone who isn’t yet ready to buzz it all off, or someone who’s just starting to notice some form of hair loss. It’s important to remember that your hair doesn’t define you, however.

Best Bald Head Razor for Shaving

You’ve taken the decision to take it all off. Shaving your head for the first time can be a liberating experience.

It’s a tough choice between using a head shaver to keep it short, or just taking a razor to your scalp and being done with it. I still flip between the two myself – at the time of writing, I use a combination of both! I’ll use my head shaver for most of my head, but I still like to use a razor for the back of my neck and to define a line between beard and head.

Often when I’m travelling or on holiday, I’ll just take a razor with me. It’s far easier to travel with, and I like my head to look fresh for the holiday pics haha! Anyway, enough of me waffling on, here’s some of the best head razors you can use for shaving your bald head.

Headblade ATX

I’ve used the Headblade for many years – it’s actually over 20 years old, though it’s only been gaining more popularity within the last 4 or 5. This is probably because it’s a tide piece of kit that genuinely does make it a little easier to shave your head.

It’s not groundbreaking technology, no – but it does make it easier to use a razor, specifically around the back of the neck, which is an annoying area to get to for many of us. You just slip your index finger through the middle of the ATX and literally run it over your head with ease.

VIKINGS BLADE The Chieftain

I’m always on the lookout for high quality razors, and you won’t get many better than the Chieftain from Vikings Blade. It’s undoubtedly the best razor for sensitive skin, so if that’s an issue for your, then you might want to have a look at the Chieftain as a possibility.

Perfecto Razor

If you’re trying to save some money and are looking for a more budget friendly option, another chrome option you could go for is the Perfecto.

Weishi Safety Razor

If avoiding cuts and nicks is a concern for you, then it makes sense to opt for a safety razor like the Weishi.

Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide Men’s Razor

Ah, the old faithful. Many guys still swear by the Gilette Fusion 5 as their favorite ways to shave their head and get it looking razor sharp.

Conclusion

Finding the best head razor for you isn’t easy, and the likelihood is that you will end up trying a few different ones before you find the perfect head razor for you.

Best Moisturizer for a Bald Head

If you’re going for the completely bald look, then it isn’t that easy to pull off. Anyone who’s ever shaved their head with a razor can attest that the first few times they done it, something went wrong. Whether it was a bumpy rash or a nick on the back of your ear (I still do this occasionally!), there’s more than meets the eye to a freshly shaven bonce. To keep your head in tip top shape, you’ll want to try and find the best moisturizer for a bald head.

Keeping your head in tip top condition is important – not only for your appearance to others, but for yourself too. Women like a guy that looks like he takes care of himself. And I’m not being sexist, gay guys like a guy who looks like he takes care of himself too! Whether you’re out to impress the ladies of the fellas, a good moisturizer can help your head appear cleaner and feel smoother. Who doesn’t want that, right?

Bee Bald Moisturizer

I’m an advocate of the Bee Bald moisturizer and I’ve used it many times in the past. It’s a great option if you want a good quality moisturizer for your head.

What I particularly like about this moisturizer is that it doubles as a sunscreen. It gives you SPF30 protection against the sun, which is ideal for when you’re only holiday or if you live in sunny climes. You should only need to apply this once a day to get results, though sometimes I like to carry it with me and use it later in the day to make sure that I’m fully protected from the heat.

Getting too much sunlight on your head is actually a big issue if you’re a bald guy, as it can be harmful. You don’t want to live your entire life wearing hats in the sunshine, so a good quality moisturizing sunscreen can help protect your head. If you’ve ever got sunburn on your scalp, then you’ll know what I’m talking about; it’s worth investing in a good quality sunscreen that doubles as a moisturizer too.

High Time Moisturizer

This product from High Time is made specifically for those that want to take care of their head to the best of their ability. It will enable you to maintain excellent health on your head.

If you struggle with things like ingrown hairs and razor bumps, then this is exactly the kind of product that you need. By moisturizing this into our head, you will help eliminate any issues that you’d usually associate with wet shaving. You should take care of your head like you take care of the rest of your body; you don’t have your hair to protect you anymore!

This is a great product for newbies, so if you haven’t tried a bald head moisturizer before then this could be the best option for you.

Palmers Bald Balm

If you don’t want to use a moisturizer, then a good bald head balm is another alternative that you could choose.

If you’ve ever used Cocoa Butter before, then you’ll be familiar with Palmers and the quality of products that they create. This bald balm is also one of their better products, and will make sure that you have a healthy scalp. It’s filled with Vitamin E also, so this cocoa butter formula will be perfect for those looking to make their head softer.

It’s also an SPF30 sunscreen protector too, so if you’re going on holiday then you’ll want to pick some of this bald balm up. It’s a solid option for those who want to maintain a healthy looking head. after you’ve used this bald balm a few times, you’re sure to notice a difference in the smoothness of your scalp.

Conclusion

I think that you’ll be happy with any of the options I’ve listed. Keeping your scalp in top health is important, whether you’re growing any hair up top or not. You should treat your head just like you’d treat any other area on your body – we only get one, so it’s important to take care of it.

Best Shaving Brush

A good shaving brush is an essential part of any mans grooming equipment. If you really want a close to the skin shave then a shaving brush is a good way to get a fresh look and improve the quality of your shave.

Using a shaving brush is a great idea if you’re struggling with some of the more common annoyances of wet shaving. By this, I mean things like ingrown hairs and skin rashes. The shaving brush will help stimulate the blood circulation in your face, which will help to reduce the likelihood of irritation. By using a shaving brush, you will allow yourself a much closer shaver than what is achievable with other methods of shaving. Of course, you need to make sure you get a good quality shaving brush to do this.

Here, we’ll look at some of the best shaving brushes available that won’t break your bank balance.

Perfecto

The Perfecto is a good option if you’re after a cheaper option. Many shaving brushes are very similar in the way that they’re made, so you don’t need to be too concerned with the difference between them.

Most shaving brushes are made with badger hair. This is a more traditional option, and some of the newer shaving brushes are made with synthetic materials that imitate this well. Why badger hair? Well, it’s a great material to use as it is firm yet flexible when applied with the right amount of pressure.

Using a shaving brush can be a great choice if you want a good way to spread soap across your face in an even manner, If you use your hands, you’re less likely to be able to spread the foam evenly across your face. This Perfecto shaving brush is a good example of a basic brush that you can use that won’t destroy your bank balance.

Vikings Blade Beard Brush

If you’re looking for a step up in appearance, this shaving brush from Vikings Blade is one of the better ones that you’ll find on the market.

It’s actually made with synthetic badger hair, which is a good option if you do not want to use a shaving brush made from real badger hair. I’d probably describe this shaving brush as a ‘luxury’ version, as it is a bit more expensive than your standard shaving brush. This is primarily due to it’s appearance. It has a heavy allow base made in Sweden and is coated in a faux ivory acrylic to make it aesthetically pleasing.

What’s good about this particular brush is that the synthetic badger hair is made specifically to absorb water, which will make it easier to spread shaving soap across your face. This is because it’s easy for the water to combine with the shaving soap that you’ll use, so that you can spread it across you face with ease. You’ll need to use this shaving brush a couple of times to get really comfortable with it, which is common with synthetic goods.

Escali Beard Brush

The Escali shaving brush is another solid option if you want a high quality beard brush. It’s made from 100% badger hair, so if you are looking for something made from aesthetic, then this is not the best shaving brush for you.

You may think that the brushes that are listed are a tad expensive, but in reality they are actually quite reasonable. Some shaving brushes cost hundreds of dollars, and this isn’t an area in which you’ll want to skimp on quality. A good shaving brush will be an investment that should last you many years and will help to improve the quality of your shave.

This shaving brush holds water extremely well, so you don’t need to worry about it lacking in quality. Due to it being 100% badger hair, you will also not have to worry about the hairs falling out for a while either (although this is something that happens naturally with most shaving brushes over time). This is a good option if you want a shaving brush that will give a close to the skin shave.

Miusco Badger Hair Shaving Brush

If you are looking for a shaving brush that will help exfoliate your skin whilst lathering on the soap, then this could be a good option for you. This Miusco shaving brush is made entirely from 100% badger hair for the best possible application of shaving soap.

Using a shaving brush is a great way to naturally exfoliate your skin whilst getting a close cut shave. If you use a razor to shave, then it is definitely worth trying a shaving brush as it does prepare your skin well. By using a shaving brush with soap, you can actually save money too as you will need less soap than if you were to invest in a shaving gel or cream.

This particular model comes with a hanging stand, which is great. This help you avoid getting any bacteria in the brush by leaving it to stand on a worktop, as it’s proven that leaving your shaving brush to hang dry will enable it to dry quicker with less bacterial growth. A good choice for anyone looking for a solid shaving brush.

Conclusion

If you aren’t happy using shaving gel, then a combination of a good shaving brush and some shaving soap may be a good option for you. This is because it will allow you to throughly moisturize and prepare your skin for the shave, reducing the likelihood of irritation and rashes. If you haven’t used a shaving brush before, then it’s worth giving it a try for an ultra smooth shave.

Best Shaving Cream for Men

Finding a good shaving cream is more important than you might think. The majority of us guys have got a neck rash at some point from shaving, and I don’t need to tell you how annoying that can be. With the right shaving cream, you can easily avoid rashes and cuts to your skin.

Whilst you might think that all shaving creams are pretty much the same, you’d be surprised at the difference that a good shaving cream can make. Shaving creams are usually about 80% water, but the other ingredients they contain can affect the quality of your shave. That’s why it’s important you get the best shaving cream for your skin, especially if it’s sensitive.

Rocky Mountain Barber Company Cream

If you are looking for the best shaving cream for sensitive skin, then you won’t find many better than those made by the Rocky Mountain Barber Company. Made specifically for all skin types, this shaving cream works excellently if you want something that won’t dry your skin out and leave you prone to it becoming flakey and damaged.

Because this is made by a smaller company, you really don’t need to worry about it being left on the shelf for years. Whilst you may not think this is an issue with normal shaving gels, with shaving cream it is often the case that you’ll want to find ones that are made with fresher ingredients so that you can really nourish your skin like it deserves.

It’s made with coconut oil, which is an excellent ingredient to have as part of any good shaving cream. This is because coconut oil is a natural moisturizer, so that you can be sure you skin will be soft and ready for shaving.

Art of Shaving Cream

The Art of Shaving are a smaller brand that use a unique formula to help you get an optimal shave. Their shaving cream has become increasingly popular in recent years, so it could be a good option if you want a shaving cream that is soft on your skin.

One thing that you may struggle with is razor burn. This is a common reason that people trun to using shaving cream instead of using shaving gel and foam, and with good reason. Shaving cream can be better for your skin as it is usually made with a moisturising oil that will help to nourish your skin and leave it soft and smooth.

Whether you are looking to apply this cream with a good shaving brush or with your hands alone, this can be a great option for a good shaving cream if you aren’t convinced on any of their competitors. It’s a great choice if you often suffer from razor burn and want to avoid this in the future.

Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Shaving Cream

The majority of shaving creams are made with sandalwood oils and specifically for those with sensitive skin. The Taylor of Old Bond Street brand are no different, and their products are undoubtedly some of the best around.

If you have particularly sensitive skin to shaving, then you will want to check the ingredients of any shaving cream you are going to use. This is because the likelihood is that you are allergic or irritant to a specific ingredient, and you will want to avoid this in the future if you want to have an irritant free shave.

If you like to get an extremely close shave, then this shaving cream would likely be a good option for you. This is because it’s cream is made to allow you to build up a smooth lather that is easy to shave off with a good quality razor. Doing this will give you a smooth shave that you just can’t get without using some sort of shaving cream or soap.

Henry Cavendish Shaving Soap

Speaking of shaving soaps, I decided to add this one to the list as an option for you. If you are looking to find a good cream to shave with, then you may want to consider a good shaving soap as they can be a great way to avoid irritants.

The difference between this shaving soap and it’s competitors is that it made with shea butter. This means that it is extremely easy to apply to your skin, and you won’t need to worry about your skin being oily or developing a shaving rash. It’s a good option if you have tried other shaving creams and don’t like the results that you have got so far.

All of the ingredients in this shaving soap are natural too, which is great if you want to avoid using products that are made with chemicals that may cause damage to your skin in the long term. If you’re in the US, you’re lucky as you can purchase an additional shaving mug that you can use to make sure this shaving soap is perfect for your skin.

Conclusion

Hopefully, you know have a slightly better idea of how a good shaving cream can make a difference. Personally, I prefer to use a good shaving soap twice a week – but that’s because I don’t go fully clean shaven and only really need to shave my neck. Whether you are looking for a good option to shave your entire face or you are just looking to clean shave your neck, there’s definitely a good shaving cream here for you to pick from.

Best Face Wash for Oily Skin

Some people have naturally oily skin. This can be due to lots of different factors, but it’s common that it’s just genetics that are causing it. One of the best ways to combat oily skin is to find a good face wash that helps to cleanse your face properly.

After using a new high quality face wash for several weeks, you should start to notice a difference with how your skin feels. During this time, a good face wash will help to clean away dirt and excess oil from your skin that you naturally accrue. Here, we’ll have a look through some of the best options for face wash that are currently available so that you can get the best face wash to help clear your oily skin.

Era Organics Natural Face Wash

Era Organics is a fantastic option if you struggle with particularly oily skin. It’s advertised as being effective for acne, psoriasis and one of the most common issues with peoples skin, eczema.

Like many other face washes, the primary ingredient that makes the difference in this face wash is aloe vera. Aloe vera is as an anti-aging formula, and can help reduce the appearance of any fine lines or wrinkles you’ve developed over the years. It’s also extremely effective in dealing with oily skin. This is because it absorbs the excess oils in your skin and will help to rejuvenate it without hydrating it, which is a common issue with other face washes.

Overall, this is a great option if you have a naturally oily face and you’re currently looking for something that will help to make your skin more natural.

Tea to Tree Face Wash

The Tea to Tree soapberry is specifically formulated to help level out the pH levels in your skin. According to them, you want to keep your pH levels around 5.5 for optimal appearance and plumpness, which is why they use soapberry. It’s been used for many years to help maintain a balanced pH level in your skin.

It’s not just great for oily skin; it also works in the opposite direction, with this face wash being fantastic for those with dry skin too. What you may particularly like with this face wash is that it’s made with no chemicals and no additives. This means that you can wash your face without worrying about the adverse effects that may occur with chemical-filled washes.

If you are looking for a genuine face wash that is completely vegan with no nasty additions, then you may wash to consider the Tea to Tree face wash.

La Roche-Posay Face Wash

La Roche-Posay are a company that have been around for a while, and they may be a good option if you want a more scientifically proven face wash. Over 15,000 dermatologists worldwide are more than happy to recommend La Roche-Posay products, so their reputation precedes them and gives you peace of mind that you’re getting a genuine product.

Again, this face wash is made to be pH 5.5. for optimal plumpness in your face. It’s an excellent choice if you have skin that is acne prone, and this will help to level out the amount of oils that are in your skin without issue.

Another great thing about this product is that although it’s relatively expensive, you won’t need to apply much to your face to get results. Just a small scoop should be enough to see a massive difference in the appearance of your face after a few applications.

Tula Face Wash

Tula face wash is made specifically for deep pore cleansing – this means that if you’re the type of person that’s had skin problems their entire life, then this would be an awesome option for you. It’s also ensured that it’s never tested on animals, which is something that is important to many of us.

One good thing about the Tula Face Wash is that it will help to level out the oils in your skin, without making it too dry and reducing the amount of natural oils in your face too much. This can be an issue for some of us who are dealing with oily skin for the first time, possibly from using a cheap face wash that does nothing for our skin.

Overall, the Tula Face Wash is a good option if you want a face wash that will help rejuvenate your face. It’s also not heavily fragranced like many other face washes, which is a must for me as I prefer to use a face wash with minimal scent.

Conclusion

Overall, it’s not easy to get a good quality face wash that you can use without concern. Too often they’re tested on animals, which is an increasing no for many of us. They’ll also often be overloaded with chemicals and made cheaply – at the expensive of the quality of your skin. If you invest in a good quality face wash, you won’t need to worry about any issues with oily skin and you can ensure your skin will be healthy.

5 Zinc Rich Foods for Optimal Health

Zinc is important for your health. If you don’t get enough zinc in your diet, this can lead to your neurological system not working optimally, diarrhoea and a weak immune system. Here are 5 of the best zinc rich foods that you should eat if you want to make sure you’re getting enough of it in your diet.

1. Pumpkin Seeds

There’s a reason pumpkin seeds have become one of the most popular new trendy foods in the last five years. They’re great for your health, that’s why! Just half a cup of pumpkins seeds will give you more than half of your recommended daily allowance of zinc.

Aside from being rich in zinc, they’re also rich in manganese, magnesium and they also have a surprising amount of protein in them, too.

2. Beef

The reason many people don’t have issues with a zinc deficiency is because beef is one of the most popular cuts of meat in the Western hemisphere. You’ll get your recommended daily allowance of zinc in just 150-200g of grass fed beef.

As well as having a lot of zinc, beef is a fantastic source of iron, too.

3. Cashew Nuts

Cashew nuts are the best nuts, right? Well, the best for zinc, at least.

Getting enough zinc in your diet is important; I actually find that if I don’t get enough zinc in my diet, I lose concentration, which is one of the more common issues if you’re not getting enough of it. Cashews are an awesome source of zinc, with a full cup giving you 50% of your recommended daily allowance.

4. Lamb

Though not as rich in zinc as beef, lamb is also an excellent source of zinc with an 8oz piece of lamb giving you two thirds of your recommend daily allowance of zinc.

Lamb is considered by some as like the evil cousin of beef, due to it’s high fat content and the fact that it’s high in calories. This shouldn’t be the case! If you’re a meat eater, you should look to include some lamb in your diet.

mushrooms-zinc

5. Mushrooms

I added mushrooms because it’s one of the lesser known vegetables that contains zinc. I actually think mushrooms are like a superfood; low in calories, carbs and high in nutrients!

Just a handful of mushrooms will give you between 20-3-% of your recommended daily allowance of zinc – cool, right?
