Using Coconut Oil for Hair Clippers?

Over the years, I’ve had tons of different shavers and trimmers, both for my head and my beard. The Wahl Balding Clipper, the Andis Professionals.. they’ve all served me well and done the job. But, they all have the same thing in common to work well. They all need maintenance. And, if you don’t use the correct beard trimmer oil, then this can significantly affect the quality of your shave. But what about if you don’t have any beard trimmer oil to hand? Can you use other substances to trim your beard – what about oils that you use for regular stuff, like coconut oil?

Well, the good news is that I’ve used coconut oil many times on my Wahl Balding Clippers and they’ve worked absolutely fine afterwards. It’s no different than using your regular beard trimmer oil – though it may take you a while to get used to the smell!

How to Apply Coconut Oil to your Trimmer

It’s extremely easy to apply coconut oil to your trimmer. It’s no different than applying regular oil, although you may find that the coconut oil is a little thicker. Because of this, you may want to massage it between your fingers for a few seconds before use.

After the oil feels soft enough to apply, gentle place it onto the top of your trimmer. If you have a small brush handy, then you can use this to help press the oil into the trimmer blades.

Once the oil is rubbed into the blades thoroughly, then you should turn the trimmer on for a few seconds. This can help the oil to spread evenly throughout the trimmer.

If you don’t have any coconut oil on hand, then you could consider using baby oil instead. Of course, you’ll want to make sure that the baby oil is thin enough to be used on your trimmers.

What else can I use coconut oil for?

Coconut oil isn’t just confined to being used for cooking and your trimmer. There are other things, specifically grooming related, in which your trimmer can work extremely well.

  • Razors – As well as your trimmer, coconut oil can also work very well for keeping your razors sharp and ready to use.
  • Moisturizer – Of course, you’ve likely seen the increase in coconut oil products throughout the last few years. Coconut oil can make a fantastic moisturizer and help to rejuvenate your skin.
  • Pre Shampoo – You can also use coconut oil before you shampoo your hair. Pre shampooing your hair has become increasingly popular and are used as a protective treatment for your scalp.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it’s easy to see that coconut oil works just as well as many other natural oils for doing a variety of different things. This includes using it to keep your trimmer blades moist, as well as an abundance of other things.
